15/09/2007 - Evie's
First TriathlonOn
15th September 2007, Charnwood
Triathlon Club had their first competitor in a Children's race when
Evie Jarvis completed the TFN City of Nottingham Children's Triathlon
competing in the Tri Star 1 category. It
was Evie's first Triathlon although she had competed for her School at
Cross-Country for the past two years. We caught up with Evie
straight after the race and managed a quick interview: Q: How did the race go? A: OK, it was hard work but I really enjoyed myself. The swim was the hardest bit so perhaps I need to practice that more. Q: How do you feel now you've finished? A:
Really proud of myself, tired and really happy. I did the race
not just for myself but for my Dad who helped me train too. My family really helped
me round through all their cheering and encouragement. Q:Are you proud to be the first Junior competing for Charnwood? A:
Yes, definately I have even got a Charnwood t-shirt. I also got
to do an interview after the race to talk about that. They
nicknamed me the Pink Lady as my kit is all pink. That was nice. Q: What was your favourite moment? A: Crossing the finish line. I'm now a Triathlete! (smiles) Q: Are you going to do any more Triathlons? A:
Yes. I want to try and do a few more next year. I surprised
myself with how the bike bit went some hopefully I can improve with some
training over the winter. Q: What are you going to do now? A: Have some food and perhaps a rest. Evie finished in 19:57 with a swim time of 3:17, a bike time of 9:19 and a run time of 7:21.
