| Junior
SectionOur Junior section for 8-16 year olds is live from 7th July 2008. A Welcome Message from our ChairpersonWe
are lucky enough to have a grant to set up the junior section of the
club, but it has always been our aim to start up a junior section after
we got the senior section running. We are a club that welcomes everyone
& the senior section is very proud of its atmosphere & ethos -
of being a medium for like-minded triathletes to train together in a
fun, relaxing & sometimes challenging atmosphere. The club is open
for all levels of ability – whether you are a budding star, are keen on
sport or just want to give it a go. In this time, where activity
levels in children are decreasing, we hope to make triathlon fun &
accessible to all children in the Charnwood area. Everyone is
welcome, whether you have confidence on the bike & in the water or
not, we will give you encouragement & help to improve & develop
your skills.
The club is always striving to be the best it
can, and to suit the needs of it’s members appropriately. As
such, we will always appreciate your comments about what we should do
to make it a better club – so please keep in touch with us and let us
know your thoughts. We are also on the look out for volunteers to
support the running of the junior section – if you are interested in
joining the club committee or volunteering in any way, again please do
let us know. There is always plenty to be done and many hands make
light work! Junior Co-ordinatorYour first point of
contact is Charlotte Quinn, who is our ‘junior co-ordinator’. Her
responsibilities include: ensuring that the welfare & well-being of
the children & young people in our club are monitored, establishing
& promoting the club & being the point of contact for the
parents of members, & liasing with them regarding club matters. She
also heads up the team working hard behind the scenes; liasing with the
coaches & creating relationships with local schools, clubs &
committees.
Charlotte graduated from Cambridge University two
years ago where she studied to become a vet. She ran cross country for
the university & rowed, played netball & hockey for her college
& was head of the college sports & social society for a year.
She moved to the area in September for work & got involved with
Charnwood Triathlon Club in February. She’s a newcomer to the sport but
has got the bug & enjoys the atmosphere in the club; at training
& at competitions.
